Council considers downtown rehab grants and hears mural update

Council members said the work would be a positive improvement to the area.
The economic development director also reported a separate downtown pub rehab project with a total cost of $14,100; a 25% grant would amount to $3,525. Staff requested council's informal concurrence to bring that project back two weeks later so contractor scheduling would not be delayed. Council agreed to place the item on the next agenda for formal action.
Tourism director Jody updated the council on mural preparation: crews are prepping the wall this week, painting will follow, and organizers asked that a front door remain open during a weekend event to avoid blocking foot traffic.
Next steps: both rehab projects are to be returned to council for formal consideration and grant approval at future meetings; staff will monitor contractor timelines to avoid delay.
