City honors officers for on-duty lifesaving transport to hospital

Police chief McFarland and City Administrator Miller recounted that Chief Yoakam and Lieutenant Lang came upon an EMS call, found the patient before the ambulance, and determined immediate transport to the emergency room was necessary. “The attending physician later told them time was of the essence, and had you not transported the patient to the ER, he most likely would not have survived this incident,” McFarland said.
Speakers emphasized the importance of coordination between fire and police in emergency situations. The patient was reported to be alive and attended the meeting; the council publicly thanked the officers and presented the award.
No further formal action was taken; the presentation served as recognition of the officers’ actions.
