City planning staff updated the council on the Comprehensive Plan 2050 final draft and revisions to the future land use map, and outlined a schedule for public hearings.
The planner said staff had refined several future land use definitions, added a mixed residential/light commercial category, and continued to adjust low-density residential designations to account for county septic system constraints. To place the plan on the planning commission docket for a November hearing, the notice must run in the paper the next morning; the planner said the packet and maps would be available at City Hall and that staff could reconvene or continue the public hearing as needed. Councilors urged care in finalizing the map language and signaled support for a December public hearing and broad stakeholder review before formal adoption.
Next steps: Staff will finalize the future land use map, publish the public hearing notice, make the final draft available at City Hall and present to the planning commission for public comment. Council indicated it prefers a deliberate review before adopting the plan.
