City engineering staff presented Resolution No. 102025 to authorize a professional services contract with Veil Design for $100,000 to produce plans for multiple water-main replacement locations. Staff said the work targets cast-iron or ductile-iron mains with a history of leaks and will generally include upsizing smaller mains to at least 8-inch pipe. The consultant work is budgeted from the water fund and projects would be constructed by city crews.
Council members asked clarifying questions about lead services and which mains are affected; staff said prior work had removed most lead services but the current projects focus on older cast-iron infrastructure with leak histories. The resolution was presented for return on OVA for formal approval.
