Guadalupe County approves precinct splits to meet Texas voter-cap limits; changes effective Jan. 1, 2026

Guadalupe County Commissioners approved an order to reconfigure two voting precincts after elections staff reported both exceed the maximum number of registered voters under the Texas Election Code.
Elections staff explained current Precinct 208 has 7,175 registered voters; staff proposed splitting that precinct at State Highway 46 so the west portion becomes Precinct 233 (3,486 voters) and the east remains Precinct 208 (3,689 voters). Current Precinct 415 (6,142 voters) was proposed to be split along FM 1103 so that a new Precinct 402 would encompass 3,565 voters and a reconfigured 415 would have 2,577 voters.
Staff said the county uses countywide polling places, so locating polling locations should not be affected. Per the election code, staff will publish notice once a week for three weeks to inform voters of the change. If approved and implemented as presented, staff said the changes would take effect on Jan. 1, 2026. The court approved the order by voice vote, 3-0.
