Council members asked whether the draft incorporated all required changes; Pella confirmed the presented draft reflects the necessary updates. There were no public speakers on the item and the council moved promptly from the public hearing into a special meeting to vote on the resolution.
The council recorded the motion to approve the amendment and, after a second, carried the motion by voice vote with no opposing votes. The amendment was presented as an administrative update to ensure the city adheres to state law; no new restrictions or local prohibitions were added. The council did not set any additional implementation conditions during the vote.
The next procedural step is administrative: filing the amended regulation with the city clerk and notifying state reviewers that Meriden has updated its ordinance language to conform with the statute.
