County proclaims Fire Prevention Week, Constitution Week, Hispanic Heritage Month and Customer Service Week

The Los Alamos County Council read and adopted four ceremonial proclamations during its Sept. 16 work session.
Councilor Herman read a proclamation designating October 2025 as Fire Prevention Week, urging residents to follow lithium‑ion battery safety practices and to buy UL, ETL or TUV‑listed products. A local speaker summarized the NFPA theme and urged safe charging and disposal practices.
The council proclaimed Sept. 17–23 Constitution Week, with a representative of the Daughters of the American Revolution accepting the proclamation and urging civic reflection.
Councilors also designated Sept. 15–Oct. 15, 2025 as National Hispanic Heritage Month and highlighted an upcoming tiny art show and youth mural at Los Alamos County Libraries. Finally, the council designated Oct. 6–10 as Customer Service Week; Joanne Gentry, deputy utilities manager, accepted the proclamation and invited the public to a customer‑service fair Oct. 8 at the Municipal Building lobby.
These proclamations are ceremonial and intended to promote public‑education events and county programming.
