She said the reauthorization extended RECA through Dec. 31, 2028, broadened qualifying illnesses and added certain employment categories such as ore drillers and waste-remediation workers.
Hannah cited Department of Justice data released Jan. 6, 2026, reporting 1,894 new downwinder applications with 455 approvals, 33 new on-site participant applications with 11 approvals, 4,219 Manhattan Project applications with 533 approvals, and 134 new uranium worker applications with 62 approvals. She urged continued coordination with congressional offices to seek expansion for states and territories not covered in the recent reauthorization.
