Woodland council names Tom Stallard mayor and selects Vega as mayor pro tem for 2026

The Woodland City Council voted unanimously to designate the next mayor and mayor pro tem at Wednesday’s special meeting, following a staff introduction of the council’s rotation schedule.
City Clerk Marissa Kersey explained that the Woodland Municipal Code directs the council to designate mayor and mayor pro tem positions in December of odd-numbered years and that a 2021 council resolution established a rotation schedule through 2030. Staff recommended that Mayor Pro Tem Stallard be designated mayor and Council member Vega be designated mayor pro tem, with the changes taking effect at the next regular meeting.
Council member Garcia Cadena moved the designation; Council member Moreno seconded the motion. The council voted 5–0 in favor of the appointments.
Several council members and members of the public offered remarks thanking outgoing Mayor Landsberg for his service and highlighting the council’s cooperative working relationship over the year. The council adjourned after brief farewells.
