Council reappoints board members, forms two ad hoc review committees

Reappointments confirmed by the council included Marcy Morgan to the Erie County Children and Youth Advisory Board (term to Dec. 31, 2029), Mary Fisher to the Erie County Library Board (term to Dec. 31, 2028), Thomas G. Nicastro to the Erie County Assessment Appeals Board (term to Dec. 31, 2029), and reappointments to the Erie County Board of Health, including Richard Ortosky and Carla Picardo. The transcript records a reappointment of a person identified only as 'Timothy' to the Board of Health; a full surname was not specified in the meeting record.
Several of the Board of Health reappointments were accompanied by a waiver of Administrative Code Article 2, Section 5A10, which the council approved. A member of the public, Joe Clark, spoke during the discussion and said he had no problem with the waivers and reiterated concerns about term lengths for advisory boards.
Chairman Scatella named members of an ad hoc administrative-code committee (Councilman Copeland as chair, plus Councilperson Sowerman and Councilman Charlie Bale). He also appointed an ad hoc committee to review council budgets, administration vetoes and court decisions, naming Mr. Wirtz as chair with Mr. Drexel and Mr. Bernarski as members; the chair said he would serve as an alternate. No objections were raised at the meeting.
The appointments and committee formations were moved, seconded and approved by roll call during the session. Several other personnel- and salary-related ordinances were introduced on first reading and will return for subsequent consideration.
