The Iowa City Airport Commission approved two related property matters: a temporary access agreement for Hills Bank to reach a pond area for rip-rap and tree-clearing, and a lease arrangement with JetAir in which the tenant will replace a hangar door in exchange for an extension of the ground lease for Hangar November.
Commission staff described the Hills Bank request as similar to a prior access arrangement and moved a resolution approving the temporary access to airport grounds. Commissioners then discussed the JetAir hangar proposal: JetAir (referred to in the transcript as JEDAIR in one instance) would replace the door on Hangar M and receive a 20-year extension of the ground lease for Hangar November, with the other lease terms remaining the same. Staff and commissioners discussed door designs; staff described an "offset pivot door" option and noted hydraulic doors would be an improvement over the existing equipment.
A resolution approving the temporary access agreement and a separate resolution establishing the terms of the hangar lease exchange were moved and approved. Speaker 3 noted the formal public hearing on the hangar/lease matter will occur at the next meeting.
Commissioners recorded their assent and scheduled the public hearing as the next procedural step.
