Commission staff said the contractor is scheduled to be on site next week to dig out three pavement panels in the Runway 12/30 area and that the work will likely close that section for most of the work week. Staff presented the task order for design and bid services and asked the commission to allow the chair to execute the work order when the FAA sign-off arrives rather than approving a fully executed contract at tonight's meeting.
"We're waiting for the go letter from the FAA," Speaker 3 said, explaining the reason for the contingency. A written resolution authorizing the chairperson to sign the task order was read aloud and moved; the motion was seconded and approved by roll call with affirmative votes recorded.
Staff said the task order covers design and bidding for the upcoming construction contract; actual construction would be scheduled after final FAA approval. Commissioners and staff also noted the work is intended to extend the life of the pavement in the affected area.
The commission directed staff to execute the task order once the FAA authorization is provided and to forward copies of the executed work order to the commission when available. No opposition was recorded at the meeting.
