License commission approves two short-term liquor licenses for Taste of Northampton

The Northampton License Commission approved two short-term wine-and-malt licenses for vendors at the Taste of Northampton, granting fee waivers and issuing unanimous votes to permit service Sept. 13–14 in the Armory Street parking lot.
At a special session Aug. 29, the Northampton License Commission unanimously approved short-term wine-and-malt licenses for two vendors participating in the Taste of Northampton in the Armory Street parking lot.
The commission voted to accept an application from Sirius Hospitality Group LLC, doing business as Tellus and the Satellite Bar, to serve wine and malt beverages on Sept. 13 (11 a.m.–8 p.m.) and Sept. 14 (11 a.m.–5 p.m.). Applicant Amanda Riesling introduced herself to the commission and said, "We're we're just really excited to do it." The commission recorded a motion, a second and three affirmative votes from commissioners Natasha Yakovlev, Jennifer Ewers and Amy K. Helaine, approving the license as outlined on the agenda.
The commission then approved a similar short-term license for Moffa/Masa Mexicano LLC for the same Sept. 13–14 schedule. Applicant Alberto Saravia said the vendor planned to "do the same thing as the past three years and then add beer." That application, too, was moved, seconded and approved with the same three affirmative votes.
Commission staff confirmed paperwork was in order for both applicants and told vendors they were "all set." Both approvals included requests for fee waivers; the commission did not record any additional conditions on the licenses during the meeting.
The licenses permit service at the Taste of Northampton event; the commission did not discuss changes to ordinance language or decibel limits during the approvals. Staff said they would send a copy of Tellus's license and the text of the commission's good-neighbor clause to commissioners upon request.
