Partnership members recapped a recent housing forum — roughly 35 people attended in person and about half that number joined on Zoom — and reviewed outreach and assistance resources to include in a public pamphlet.
Speakers highlighted themes from the forum: construction costs and timelines for affordable housing, sustainable building methods such as cross‑laminated timber, and bipartisan interest in enabling more housing production. A presenter summarized energy and fuel‑assistance resources: Mass Save landlord programs (no‑cost energy assessments, insulation incentives and rebates), Community Action Pioneer Valley fuel assistance and the Good Neighbor Energy Fund through the Salvation Army in Springfield.
Members also emphasized the RAFT program administered by Wayfinders as a critical local emergency resource. A Partnership member said RAFT can pay up to $7,000 for rent in a year for unsubsidized tenancies and can be used for moving expenses. The Partnership agreed to add these resources to a public pamphlet.
Member Hannah shared that she had drafted a Google Doc of local housing assistance links and would circulate it with commenting enabled; members asked that she send it to everyone and bring a revised version to next month’s meeting. Legal counsel noted sharing a resource list is informational and not itself a formal action requiring an open‑meeting.
