Miss Linden, the district enrollment presenter, explained that Schools of Choice are limited to grade levels and buildings with available seats and that sibling priority is allowed but no other enrollment priority may be granted. She noted the program generally enrolls about 400 students annually and brings roughly $3.6 million in per-pupil revenue to the district. Transportation is not provided into other districts; families must access bus stops within Ann Arbor boundaries if seats on buses are available.
Trustees questioned per-building impacts and how the district markets windows; Linden said the district posts the school and grade level at least 15 days before a window opens and confirmed staff would provide trustees with per-building figures if requested. She also described discipline screening for applicants (district reviews suspensions/expulsions and pursues additional context when concerns appear).
The motion to approve the windows was moved by Trustee Schmidt and supported by Trustee Wilkes; the measure carried on roll call.
