Two new trustees sworn in as Dearborn board returns to full membership

At a regular meeting on Oct. 13, 2025, the Dearborn Board of Education administered the oath of office to two newly appointed trustees, Nasri Sobe and Ali Bazzi, restoring the board to full membership.
Each trustee repeated the statutory oath, pledging "to support the Constitution of the United States of America and the Constitution of the State of Michigan" and to "faithfully discharge the duties of office of trustee of the School District of the City of Dearborn to the best of my ability," as the board clerk led the ceremony and President Moses presided.
After the oath, both trustees briefly addressed the board. Sobe thanked the board for the opportunity and said he was "really excited to tackle all the challenges" ahead and invited community members to reach out. Bazzi thanked his family and mentors and said he and the board are "here to listen" and serve the community.
Superintendent Doctor Malayko congratulated both trustees and welcomed their outreach efforts. President Moses and other trustees praised the new members’ early engagement during onboarding meetings.
The swearing-in restored the board’s full complement of trustees and preceded regular agenda business, including the superintendent’s updates and a school-safety presentation. The board did not take any additional formal action specific to the appointments during the meeting.
