Trustee Elle Pasishka reminded colleagues that appointees will serve roughly a one-year partial term and that four seats will be up in the November election, allowing unsuccessful applicants another chance to run.
The board also clarified logistics: the chair said appointees will be sworn in within three days after appointment to meet legal timing requirements, but the board expects formal swearing-in to occur at a subsequent meeting so appointees can attend the college meeting where the college president selection is scheduled. Trustees asked staff to provide candidate videos and resumes to aid deliberations and named a staff member (Joanne) to keep a tally of top-applicant mentions. No formal appointments were made at Monday's session; the board will deliberate and may vote at the special meeting.
