County selects Jolie’s Crossroads Cafe to reopen restaurant at Muskegon County Airport

Muskegon County commissioners approved Dec. 11 the selection of Jolie’s Crossroads Cafe, operated by Leanne French, to operate the restaurant at the Muskegon County Airport.
Kenton, the airport director, explained that the previous restaurant (the Brownstone) closed in November 2016 and the terminal space has remained vacant for nearly nine years. The county issued a public request for proposals on July 31, left the RFP open for 60 days through Labor Day, and conducted outreach to restaurants in Muskegon, Oceana and Ottawa counties. Two proposals were returned and reviewed by an advisory committee.
Kenton said evaluators weighed experience and price point heavily; Jolie’s Crossroads Cafe was noted for its established airport operation at Owasso and a menu that includes breakfast offerings. "They opened when the terminal was built in 1994," he said describing the original Brownstone and the goal to restore restaurant service at the Muskegon terminal. The advisory committee recommended Jolie’s Crossroads Cafe; commissioners voted to approve the selection. Kenton told the board a formal contract and liquor-license details will be brought back this winter for final execution.
The committee said the sample menu looked favorable and that an operational contract will be provided to the board for review prior to execution.
