Muskegon County board approves committee items, appoints Itzel Scott and schedules work sessions

The Muskegon County Board of Commissioners approved multiple committee recommendations and formalized an appointment during its meeting.

Vice Chair Cook, reporting for the Community Development and Strategic Planning Committee, moved items CDSP 25-10-24 and CDSP 25-10-25 for board approval; the motion was supported and recorded as passing. Similar committee motions from Courts & Public Safety, Human Services, Transportation and Ways & Means were presented and approved by the board, with roll calls showing affirmative votes on the listed items.

Chairman Nash moved to appoint Itzel Scott to a Department of Health and Human Services citizen appointment (reference 103128); the motion was supported and approved by voice vote.

Administration asked the board to add a November 20 work session at 4 p.m. for a drain codes presentation with Water Resource Commissioner Stephanie Barrett; that addition was moved, supported and added to the calendar. Staff also noted a December 18 Brownfield Development Authority meeting involving Ryan Kilpatrick and council coordinator Jennifer Hodges, and the board recorded support to mark that date.

The meeting also included routine liaison reports, public-event announcements and recognition of the county’s receipt of the 2025 MERS Impact Award for human resources efforts. The meeting moved toward adjournment after final acknowledgments.
