The Clare County Board approved several resolutions and routine items at its regular meeting, including a resolution to apply for federal/state transit funding, acceptance of an $80,000 materials-management planning grant, approval of December expenditures and other administrative actions.
On transportation, the board moved and approved a resolution of intent to apply for FY2026–2027 assistance for the county public transportation program, authorized the transit director to execute MDOT contracts, and adopted required contract-certification clauses and an accessibility plan under public act 51. The resolution was presented for mid-February contract actions and carried on roll call.
The board also approved a materials management planning program grant agreement with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy for FY2026 in the amount of $80,000. County staff said five bids for the materials management plan were received (two were disqualified) and the award process is expected to conclude in mid-February.
Finance items included approving the statutory finance committee meeting attendance/expenditures and the December expenditures totaling $1,853,420.42 (general fund expenditures of $1,040,016.06). The board made a scheduling change to move the November meeting date and authorized the administrator to apply for a roughly $500,000 historical records-preservation grant (no local match required).
Board roll calls and voice votes were used where applicable; in several cases officials asked staff to move forward with implementation steps and to include changes in FY2027 budget work.
The clerk will record resolutions and agreements and proceed with standard contracting and grant-acceptance procedures.
