Supervisors approve $500,000 state traffic-safety grant for Libertyville Road

The Jefferson County Board of Supervisors voted Feb. 8 to approve final paperwork for an Iowa Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Improvement Program (TCIP) grant for Libertyville Road.
Speaker 3 described safety features included in the project—wider pavement markings, centerline and edge rumble strips, and paved shoulders—and said the $500,000 state grant will cover those features and count toward the county’s required match for a related federal grant. "That $500,000 is covering all those additional features that we had included in the grant," Speaker 3 said.
Speaker 2 moved to approve the grant paperwork and the board approved by voice vote. Staff said DOT now uses an electronic signature/workflow system and the county will complete any required signatures through that process.
Next steps: staff will monitor receipts from DOT, finalize award paperwork and proceed with engineering and procurement consistent with grant conditions.
