Jefferson County supervisors on Aug. 4 heard that ambulance billing for Jan.–June shows roughly $120,000 in billed charges that have not been collected. Speaker 7 told the board that average billed revenue per transfer was about $700 in the first six months of the year and that ongoing discussions with the county’s billing company and insurers are needed to close the gap.
Speaker 7 said the outstanding balance includes unpaid insurance claims and patient-responsibility amounts, some dating back to January. The EMS representative said they will continue working with the billing company and meet again this week to review the situation.
Separately, the board approved claims in the amount of $127,444.51 by voice vote.
The board did not take additional budget action during the meeting; next steps are continued follow-up with the billing vendor and insurers and internal review of receivables.
