Jefferson County approves PRN paramedic hire and EMT transition

The Jefferson County Board of Supervisors on Aug. 4 approved two personnel actions for emergency medical services. The board voted to hire Bill Sammons (the resolution lists the legal name Harry Sailors) as a PRN paramedic at $32 per hour, effective Aug. 15, 2025. Board members discussed which given name should appear on payroll, with one member noting the resolution used the legal name.
The board also approved converting Cheyenne Browderman from PRN to full-time EMT at a rate of $18 per hour. Both measures were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
An EMS representative (Speaker 7) said adding a medical director will assist the service’s accreditation work; the transcript notes ambulance maintenance and repair needs for units 52 and 53 as part of the broader EMS update.
Next steps: the hires take effect as approved (PRN paramedic effective Aug. 15) and staffing changes will be reflected in payroll and personnel records.
