Opioid committee to reconcile spending, approve small giveaways and pursue printed resource guides

Committee members reviewed recent expenditures from the opioid-prevention account, discussed outstanding invoices and agreed to seek formal approvals for small, event-related purchases.

One participant said the committee had ‘obligated $20,000’ to initiatives but that only about $12,000 appears to have been expended so far; another member asked staff to double-check whether invoices had been billed and to confirm whether nearly $8,000 remains available: “If we still have up to almost $8,000 committed, that’s unspent,” an attendee said.

Separately, the group confirmed a hospital marketing staff member, Amy Vetter, as the contact for converting an opioid resource guide into a printable format and discussed the hospital’s earlier offer of $1,000 to print paper copies for distribution at community events. The committee agreed to follow up with Amy at an upcoming event.

Members also discussed small giveaways for a teacher-appreciation event on Sept. 10 — items such as bracelets, stickers and pencils — and proposed putting an item on the supervisors’ agenda to authorize up to $1,000 in purchases or reimbursements for those items. Participants asked staff how purchases should be routed and whether public health could place orders and be reimbursed after supervisors’ approval.

Assigned follow-ups included: staff confirmation of payments and outstanding invoices (including checks that Darcy may have processed), outreach to Amy Vetter about printed resource guides, and adding a $1,000 teacher-appreciation purchase request to the next supervisors’ agenda. No final spending decisions were made during the meeting.
