Board ratifies temporary catering agreement as Harbor Links management talks continue

The Town of North Hempstead ratified a short‑term agreement with Filizio's Catering LLC on Jan. 8 to cover catering services at Harbor Links Golf Course while negotiations continue over a new long‑term management contract.
Council members questioned how an event scheduled Jan. 3 had been booked after the prior management firm’s contract expired Dec. 31. Town attorneys said Century Golf (the prior manager) had been transitioning out, multiple events were booked, and Parks and purchasing staff worked to ensure the Jan. 3 event proceeded so constituents would not be inconvenienced. Deputy town attorneys said negotiations with the incoming manager remained ongoing but were close to resolution.
Officials said the temporary caterer processed payment through the town and the town paid the caterer; temporary liquor licenses and required insurances were secured for the event. Council members asked for better advance notice when outside managers book town facilities and suggested considering contractual rights (for example, a town right of refusal) in future long‑term agreements.
The board voted to ratify the Filizio's Catering agreement (Resolution 19). Town staff said they expect the long‑term management contract to be executed by the end of the week and will report back to the board on transition details.
