Board approves Bridge Avenue closure for repairs and East Main closure for Festival of Lights

Aaron Stevens, administrative resource officer with the Richmond Police Department, told the Board of Public Works and Safety that he brought two road-closure requests.
On the first, Stevens said the closure is for Bridge No. 702 on Bridge Avenue just north of Simhajun Parkway for renovation work by Cawley Construction "beginning December 8, next Monday, if it is approved tonight." The board moved, seconded and approved the closure by voice vote.
On the second request Stevens said the Festival of Lights at Glenn Miller Park will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, and requested closure of specified East Main Street curb lanes from about 5:00 a.m. until roughly 8:00 p.m. to accommodate festival activities and attendees with mobility needs. The board moved, seconded and approved that closure by voice vote.
