He recalled a 1975 contamination episode on the James River that closed a long stretch of the river to fishing for years and said that experience informed his appreciation for coastal protection and compliance. “That incident made clear to me the fragility of our coastal areas and the bounties they provide,” he said.
Scott also described volunteer leadership, including serving as vice chair of the Sierra Club Delaware chapter and establishing an environmental justice committee there. Committee members commented on shared industry backgrounds and thanked Scott for his willingness to serve.
