Henrico recognizes chief of staff Carrie Morgan Tratina as she moves to Henrico EDA

At its Jan. 13 meeting the Henrico County Board of Supervisors publicly recognized Carrie Morgan Tratina for her service to the county and announced her appointment as director of economic development with the Henrico Economic Development Authority (Henrico EDA).

County manager (as identified in the meeting) reviewed Tratina’s career at Henrico, saying she joined as an intern in June 2011 and has held posts including budget analyst, senior management specialist, division director in fire administration, chief of staff and deputy county manager. The manager credited her with leading development and infrastructure negotiations and named projects and programs where she played a lead role, including the county’s vaccination clinics during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Verina Farms property purchase, the creation of an affordable housing trust fund funded by data-center revenues, and efforts to secure high bond ratings for the county.

Tratina told the board she was "speechless" and thanked mentors, colleagues and family for support. She said her service began as a teenager pursuing firefighting and described her tenure as a formative public-service career. Tratina said she was grateful to the Henrico Economic Development Authority board for the opportunity and that the move represented "a new chapter serving the community who made me the woman I am today." She asked the board and the community to see the change as "not goodbye" but "see you soon."
