Hanover planning commission approves three expedited items including industrial rezoning and vehicle-storage CUP

The commission recommended approval of REZ2025-519 (Jack B. Lawson), a rezoning of roughly 4.93 acres in the Henry District from A-1 agricultural to AR-6 agricultural/residential to allow one additional family lot; the applicant confirmed agreement with staff recommendations and the commission voted in favor.
Commissioners also approved REZ2025-00018 (Mount Sinai Properties / Old Rich Food Road LLC), an amendment to proffers on a ~16.6-acre light-industrial parcel intended to allow heavy-equipment sales, service and repair. Applicant Carter Burkey said the business originally planned to remove an existing building but now plans to retain most of it for covered storage and add a new building; Mr. Burkey told commissioners the change reflects growth and operational needs.
Finally, the commission approved Conditional Use Permit CUP2025-0010 for Enterprise Leasing Company to allow vehicle and equipment storage and wholesale motor-vehicle auctions on 9.29 acres in the Chickahominy District with recommended conditions. Each expedited item carried on a motion from the dais with a second and no recorded opposition.
All three approvals were voice votes with commissioners saying "aye" and no members announcing opposition. The commission deferred one agenda item (Missionary International Learning Center) to the November meeting at the request of a commissioner earlier in the agenda.
