Board pays tribute to departing supervisors; citizens speak on preservation and tax policy

During the citizen‑comment portion of the meeting, Larry Allen Claus Webb, president of the Clouser Foundation, asked the county to use its Historic Resource Advisory Board to prepare and submit a formal nomination of the Clauser (Clauser/Clouser) House to the Virginia Department of Historic Resources. He provided a flash drive of supporting documentation and urged the board to preserve the site for future generations.
Other public speakers included Gary Krause, who urged the board to expand direct‑vote referendums and to consider an aggressive tax policy including possible surcharges on nonresident landowners; Patty Lyman and others offered tributes to Supervisor Dunn. Several residents thanked the board and staff for county services and programs supporting children and seniors.
The meeting closed with board member reflections and gratitude to staff and residents, and the chair adjourned the meeting.
