Waterford board elects officers, confirms committee representatives

The Waterford School District Board of Education completed its annual organizational business, electing officers and confirming members to community committees.
Member Wagner was elected board president in a 6–1 vote after nominations and a show-of-hands count; Member MacGregor was recorded as opposing. President Wagner nominated Member Torres for vice president; the board approved Torres unanimously, 7–0. Dr. Mike Ristich was elected secretary, 7–0, and Member Donahue was approved as treasurer, 7–0.
The board also filled its roster of external representatives. Wagner will remain the district’s representative to Oakland Schools with Member MacGregor as alternate; Member Patricia agreed to continue as the district rep to the Waterford Township Recreation Board with Donahue as alternate. Other committee assignments confirmed included representation for the Open School Boards Association Government Relations Committee, Lehi Hathaway Advisory Board, Waterford Youth Assistance and the Head Start Policy Committee.
The board reaffirmed its previously adopted operating norms by unanimous vote and adopted the regular meeting and Committee of the Whole schedule for the 2026–27 school year (regular meetings at Waterford Township Hall Auditorium; Committee of the Whole at Kurzman Administration Services Prairie Campus).
The consent agenda was approved as presented with no objections.
The meeting moved next to information items and project updates before adjourning to a closed session.
