Kent County accountability board discusses remote training; MPTC said it will consider offering Zoom

The member said they maintain required CLE credits and that offering both in-person and Zoom options could help those unable to attend face-to-face.
Board members discussed the Maryland Police Training Commission’s current practices. Speaker 2 said MPTC "doesn't offer" remote delivery at present but that training staff "are gonna consider it," according to the transcript. The board did not take a formal vote on changing training policy; members described the outcome as an item for follow-up with training authorities.
Speaker 3 also offered a local option: they are preparing an ethics-law training session intended to be held at the town hall and streamed via Zoom for remote participants. Speaker 3 said that the town clerk and local tech staff have previously helped stream sessions for those unable to attend in person.
The discussion underscored two practical points: (1) at least one board member reports that virtual CLE sessions have large attendance and are seen as cost-effective, and (2) MPTC — as referenced in the meeting — does not currently offer remote delivery but may review the option.
