The Wright County Board of Supervisors approved Resolution 2026‑08 to award a county road maintenance contract for project FMCO 99109‑55‑99 to Heartland Asphalt, the low bidder.
The county engineer presented four bids for the project and identified Heartland Asphalt (Mason City) as the lowest at $1,381,305.33. Other bids reported in the presentation included Central Specialties at about $1,670,000 and Blacktop Service at about $1,875,000.
Unidentified Speaker 2 moved to adopt Resolution 2026‑08; Unidentified Speaker 1 seconded. A roll-call/voice vote was taken and the chair announced the motion carried.
Why it matters: awarding the contract starts the formal procurement process for work described in the packet (county K or R 38 on C 25 on the north side of the lake to Highway 69, and other local segments). Staff said the low bid was substantially lower than several competitors; the board did not record sustained debate on project scope during the meeting.
Next steps: County staff will complete contracting paperwork with Heartland Asphalt and schedule work under the county’s procurement rules.
