Committee backs bill removing barriers to serve on charter and institutional boards

Counsel said the bill permits appointed members of the professional charter school board to serve as lay members of institutional boards of governors if they are otherwise qualified and that the bill adds language to the cited statutory sections accordingly.
Vice Chair moved that SB536 be reported to the full Senate with a recommendation that it do pass; the committee approved the motion by voice vote.
