Barr described the parcel (tax PIN 797901454330) as located toward Highway 87 between Wentworth and Eden in an area characterized by low-density, single-family residential development and said there were no environmental constraints noted for the site.
No members of the public signed up to speak during the public hearing, and commissioners asked only brief clarifying questions, including whether Duke Energy had previously used the parcel; Barr said nothing of significance appeared in older aerials and that a home builder currently owns nearby RP zoning parcels.
Commissioner Richardson moved to approve the rezoning; Commissioner Hall seconded and the motion passed by voice vote.
