ADOT to add reflectors, meet contractor after SR‑95 median complaints

Arizona Department of Transportation district staff updated the Lake Havasu Metropolitan Planning Organization board on Dec. 9 about public complaints concerning the recently completed SR‑95 median between South Palo Verde and Price Road.
Mister Steinberger, ADOT district engineer, said crews have received "a lot of public complaints" about the median. He told the board ADOT will install reflective tabs and additional delineation before the Christmas holiday to improve visibility and will meet with the contractor this month to review public concerns and identify mitigation measures.
Board members raised specific concerns about sharp curb edges and reduced nighttime visibility where the median covers the previous yellow striping. Council member Campbell asked whether paint or more comprehensive painting could be used; Mister Steinberger said ADOT will begin with reflectors and discuss paint and other options with the contractor and the city after the new year.
On construction tolerance, Mister Steinberger said the median was designed to cover the yellow striping and that where the median extended 1–2 inches over that line, it still met roadway design guidelines and construction tolerances. ADOT said it will coordinate with the city and the contractor to identify near‑term mitigations and report back.
