Samantha Alvarez, the Department of Health Queens liaison, reminded residents it is cold‑and‑flu season and urged vaccinations for COVID and flu, handwashing and respiratory hygiene. "Cover your cough, wash your hands, and please get the COVID or flu vaccine," she said.
The Department of Buildings reported on local‑law changes affecting sidewalk sheds: sheds renewed after Jan. 20, 2026, will expire after 90 days and will not automatically renew; the department said it will issue violations for unpermitted work and will make condo and cardboard information available through DOB Build. DOB also warned that gas‑inspection enforcement is increasing in affected community‑board areas.
Marco from the Department of Finance told the cabinet that homeowners should expect a four‑page notice of property value next week and reiterated that the notice is not a bill. He said the deadline to apply for exemptions is March 16 this year (the annual administrative deadline falls on March 15 but moves where necessary).
