The Village of Flower Hill Board of Trustees recorded several formal actions at its Oct. 7 meeting following public discussion earlier in the evening.
ARPA vehicle resolution: Trustees moved to amend a prior ARPA designation so funds could be used for a new Ford F-450 dump truck with plow (instead of the previously proposed vehicle). The resolution was moved, seconded and passed unanimously. The administration said the truck is new and priced under state contract; the meeting cited a price of about $110,000 for the truck.
Approval of minutes: Trustees moved to approve the minutes of the September meeting; the motion was seconded and the board approved the minutes unanimously.
Women's Club pumpkin patch: The board approved the Women's Club of Flower Hill's request to use Village Park for a pumpkin-patch event on Oct. 14 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. A certificate of liability insurance naming the village as an insured party was on file; a trustee who is a club member recused from the vote.
ARC and zoning items: The Architectural Review Committee reported approvals or conditions on several property applications (signage, rear additions, portico refinements and sensitive additions), and the village attorney summarized border zoning items including variances at 525 Manhasset Woods Road, 29 Ridge Drive East and 7 Ridge Drive East. The board authorized the village attorney to represent Flower Hill at an Oct. 15 Roslyn meeting to raise concerns about a proposed 54-unit waterfront development adjacent to the village.
No additional formal votes were taken on the security-patrol discussion that preceded these actions; trustees said they would continue to collect data and consult county police before deciding on the patrol's future.
