On active transportation, the board reviewed a Liro Group concept for Stonytown. Measurements and New York State DOT buffer requirements prevent installing two separate protected bike lanes on both sides of the road; engineers recommended a wider bidirectional multi‑use path with striping, signage and rumble features. Trustees discussed width, safety tradeoffs for runners and cyclists, and local usage patterns; board members asked staff to pursue required state coordination and to request a traffic study for a separate suggestion to add a targeted right‑turn green arrow at a nearby Northern Boulevard intersection.
Staff said the bridge work nearby looks nearly complete; the board also discussed beautification fall plantings for several high‑profile islands and solicited resident and business interest for seasonal planting support.
Implementation next steps: DPW to post neighborhood notices for the Manhasset Woods closure and share exact paving dates; staff to coordinate with NYSDOT on the bike‑path concept and to request a traffic study regarding signal timing at Northern Boulevard/Miller Grove.
