After an extended public-comment period, the Town of North Hempstead board moved to adopt the consent calendar (items 1–49, except item 44) and then addressed item 44, an employee resolution. The supervisor asked to strike sub-items 44-11 and 44-12 and proposed an amendment to sub-item 44-31 changing the word "termination" to "resignation."
The board conducted roll-call votes on the amendment and on the amended resolution. Multiple board members responded "Aye" when called — the transcript records affirmative votes from those identified as Councilman Chano, Councilman Scott, Councilman Walsh, Councilman Liu, Councilman D'Ami (or similarly spelled), Councilman Dalimonte and the supervisor — and the board moved to adopt resolution 44 as amended. The meeting then moved toward adjournment; the transcript records at least one "No" vote on the adjournment call (Councilman Liu said "No").
Union President Thomas McDonough, CSEA Unit 7555, addressed the board after the vote to thank officials for hiring decisions converting part-time staff to full-time and for other positive staffing actions.
What’s next: The board adopted the consent calendar and the amended employee resolution; no further action on the struck sub-items was recorded at this meeting.
