Flat Rock’s City Council formally recognized police officers and firefighters for life-saving work during a Nov. 7, 2025 medical emergency at a city residence.
According to remarks at the Nov. 7 meeting, officers Denson, Houston and a recently assigned Officer Murray arrived first and began CPR on an approximately 4‑year‑old female who was unresponsive and cyanotic. Firefighters arrived roughly four minutes later, initiated advanced life‑saving measures and, after about 25 minutes of treatment, regained a pulse and transported the patient to Fort Will Trent for further care.
"Your training, dedication, and courageous actions helped save this person's life," said an official presenting plaques to the responders. The council and attendees applauded the team; plaques from the Flat Rock Fire Department were handed to the officers and firefighters onstage.
The council did not record a formal vote related to the recognition; the presentation was an acknowledgment of emergency personnel and their cooperation across departments.
Council members and department leaders praised the collaboration between police and fire at the meeting and encouraged continued training and communication to maintain rapid response capability. The council scheduled photos with the chief and award recipients after the presentation.
