During the Jan. 8 meeting Superintendent (named on the record) described recent district initiatives and partnerships and highlighted student-reported activities.
The superintendent said the district's partnership with Care Solace "has been extremely beneficial," reporting 42 staff-initiated warm handoffs, five family-initiated contacts, 12 attended appointments and 57 anonymous searches for providers since the service began. He said staff and families have found the sign-up process straightforward and that the program provides quick access and follow-up for families seeking behavioral-health resources.
The superintendent also said the district is developing a partnership with the Royal Oak Public Library that would include a thousand-books-before-kindergarten program, library cards for all Royal Oak students, and summer-reading collaborations. He said a draft 2026–27 school calendar would be posted imminently and that late starts and half days would be provided in a follow-up communication.
Student representative Lisa Mulaney updated the board on student life: the uMATTER survey and uMATTER week (April 27'May 1) focused on mental-health awareness and student activities, the school store Ravenhaven recently opened, and the ACE program night is scheduled for Jan. 15. Student reps invited board members to school lunches.
Board members thanked student representatives and acknowledged appreciation for staff and community partners.
