House clerk reads a batch of new bills for committee referral

DES MOINES — At the outset of the session the clerk read a list of newly introduced House files that were placed on first reading or referred to committees.
The list included bills on tenant protections and early termination rights, limits on discovery depositions involving minor victims, confidentiality of minor library records, licensing and reporting for businesses that remove and dispose of wild animal carcasses, requirements related to forfeited weapons, and measures addressing eluding and pursuit penalties. Other bills announced covered sale and regulation of nitrous oxide, an Iowa–Illinois boundary adjustment committee, Medicaid payment limits for certain activities, use of school district levy revenue for staff retention incentives, expungement for victims of human trafficking, and regulation of places of worship, among others.
Most items were announced as first readings and referred to the committees listed by the clerk; no floor debate on these individual measures was recorded in this session.
