Council approves new Recreation Program Manager position to staff Stevenson Building

The Dripping Springs City Council voted to create a Recreation Program Manager position and approve its job description, a retitling and modest content change from the prior DSRP Program Coordinator role.
Chase Winburn, the city's human resources director, said the change recognizes expanded programming needs across city facilities — most notably the Stevenson Building, which staff expect to open later this year. Winburn told the council the role's duties remain largely the same but will emphasize city‑wide programming responsibilities rather than a single location.
Council members asked about budget impact and whether the vacancy required a budget amendment; Winburn and staff said no additional budget amendment was required for the position. The motion to approve the position and job description was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.
The new position will allow staff to prepare programming before the Stevenson Building opens and to manage citywide recreation needs, city staff said. The City will post and recruit according to the approved job description.
