Residents speak at Flower Mound meeting; Claire Harris announces run for Council Place 5

Claire Harris of Flower Mound used the public-comment portion of the meeting to announce her candidacy for Flower Mound Town Council, Place 5 in the May election. "I will be running for Flower Mound Town Council, place 5 in the May," Harris said, listing service on the Environmental Conservation Commission, the Blue Ribbon Bond Committee and current service on Planning and Zoning.
Sharon Gentry and Scott Langley spoke in support of Harris. Gentry recounted Harris’s neighborhood review work and said Harris "looks at everything," citing a development review in which Harris objected to removal of trees. Langley told the council Harris "will do the homework" and recommended her to voters.
Other public comments included brief remarks from Landry Poly, who noted appreciation for maintained public lawns, and a lengthy, unrelated statement from Alex Stein that included profanity and multiple allegations about policing and national drug policy. Stein’s remarks contained profane criticism of police and assertions about federal drug trafficking and enforcement policies. The mayor and council did not respond to Stein’s allegations during the public-comment period.
The public-comment period concluded with no council action taken on the remarks; the meeting proceeded to announcements and the council’s work session.
