Council approves Lakeside Parkway concrete panel replacement contract with five‑month schedule

The Flower Mound Town Council voted unanimously to approve a contract to remove and replace failing concrete panels along Lakeside Parkway. Assistant Director of Public Works Manny Palacios said the project covers approximately 11,215 square yards of pavement and will include subgrade improvements and geogrid installation to improve durability.
Palacios described the section as suffering severe panel breakage and attributed accelerated deterioration to heavy traffic and clay soils in portions of the alignment. He told council the town will begin construction in January 2026 with a five‑month estimated duration, weather permitting.
When asked whether the panel replacement conflicts with a planned Lakeside Parkway widening, Palacios said the panel replacement is a separate project and staff is coordinating with engineering to limit any duplication of work.
The project cost was presented verbally during the public discussion (approximately $3.1 million) and staff said the price is based on the town's existing concrete and drainage annual services contract. Council approved the purchase by motion and unanimous roll call.
The work will be scheduled and coordinated with the town’s engineering and construction calendar to reduce rework if future widening projects proceed.
