Senator Lofgren introduced two Miss Iowa titleholders visiting the Senate chamber, saying, "We have 2 Miss Iowa pageant title holders joining us in the chamber today," and named Ella Hausman as Junior Miss Iowa 2025 and Lennox Holmes as Little Miss Iowa 2025.
Lofgren described Ella Hausman as an eighth-grade student at Saint Mary and Matthias Catholic School in Muscatine who participates in dance, volleyball, cheerleading and student council and partners with the nonprofit Sleep in Heavenly Peace to help ensure children have beds. Lofgren said Ella "won awards for top junior Miss interview, top academics, and the community service award" and that Ella hopes to encourage young girls across the state.
Lofgren described Lennox Holmes as a fourth-grade student at Lewaissa Musking Elementary School in Letts who is active in competitive dance, soccer and cheerleading and volunteers at Habitat for Humanity events, rings bells for the Salvation Army, and collects donations for a local humane society. Lofgren noted both girls were accompanied by family members in the gallery.
Separately, Senator Knox asked the chamber to applaud the Grandview Vikings football team as national champions, listing season achievements and thanking coach EJ Peterson and players. Knox recounted the team’s successes, saying it was a "fourteenth playoff appearance since 2011" and that the elders had notable career records; the senator invited the team and coach to stand for recognition.
Senator Weiner announced that Democrats would caucus in Room 24.
