The Iowa Senate opened with a prayer and several senators introduced visiting school groups. Senator Sires introduced representatives from Cedar Falls Community School District and noted student partnerships with local industry. Senator Zimmer welcomed students and an advisor from Bettendorf Community School District, and Senator Campbell introduced Mason City Alternative High School and summarized the group's service-focused mission.
Later in the session, Senator Clemish moved "the senate adjourn to Tuesday, January 27 at 9AM." The presiding officer called for the ayes and nays; members voiced "Aye," no numerical tally was recorded on the floor, and the presiding officer declared the motion prevailed and the Senate adjourned to that date and time.
Senators also used the floor for routine announcements, including a notice that Democrats would caucus in Room 24.
