The Fort Worth Housing Finance Corporation voted to acquire six tax‑foreclosed lots in Council Districts 5 and 8 for single‑family infill development.
Staff (Speaker 1) said the lots were identified through work with the city’s property management department and the Community Land Trust and will be added to the HFC’s program of lots offered through a twice‑yearly request for proposals to support single‑family development. Staff said the total purchase price including contingencies is about $150,000, that all parcels are zoned for single‑family residential use, and that most individual lots measure roughly 7,000–9,000 square feet. Staff noted one larger Evans Avenue parcel listed at 25,000 square feet and said they would confirm that measurement.
Council members asked clarifying questions about the number of foreclosed properties reviewed and the condition and selection process for lots; staff said they used a list from property management and worked with the Community Land Trust to identify sites advantageous for development. The HFC chair called for a motion, members voted 'Aye' and the chair announced 'Motion carries.'
Staff said if the HFC approves the acquisition, property management will follow with a mayor-and-council communication seeking approval to sell the lots to the HFC, and the lots would then be processed through HFC’s RFP sale schedule.
