The Fort Worth Historic and Cultural Landmarks Commission approved a Certificate of Appropriateness Jan. 12 for a proposed new single‑story residence at 948 Marion Avenue, contingent on staff-recommended conditions.
Staff described the infill project on the only vacant lot on the south side of the block, noted that the building form, spacing and orientation are generally compatible with contributing buildings on the block, and recommended approval subject to six conditions: a simplified front porch at least 6 feet deep; replacement of the proposed front door with a single half‑light or solid door; replacement of the west‑elevation sliding window with a 1‑over‑1 window; provision of compatible paving materials for the driveway and front paths; correction of paired window details to include a 4‑inch mullion and projecting sill; and submission of adjusted drawings to Development Services prior to COA issuance.
No members of the public spoke on the application and the owner chose not to present. Commissioner Thomas Oliver moved to approve the COA with staff conditions; Commissioner Kelly Traeger seconded. The motion carried unanimously, 7‑0.
Staff will require revised drawings and compliance with the listed conditions before the COA is issued.
